When highlighting what kind of developer do i use?

I am foiling my dark blond hair a lighter blond, it also has brown in it.

When highlighting what kind of developer do i use?
When selecting the type of developer when highlighting you have to take in to account a few different factors.

1) Your hair type - Coarse, Dry ext. The coarser the hair, the higher volume you will want to use.

2) Hair condition - If the hair is over-prossed it can take a highlight very quickly.

3)The level of lightness you want achevied - Even though a lighter usually lightens 3-4 shades, (depending on product it could lighten up to 7 shades).

Basically a Volume 10 would take longer to lighten the hair compared to a Volume 40 which would lighten the hair much quicker. I suggest if you are doing an all over foil to use a 10 or 20, unless you are lightening to the Blondest possible, then it wouldn't matter. I suggest this because as soon as you start highlighting your hair will start to lighten. Some people only want to lighten a few shades.

SO.. Lol. Use a 10 or 20 and watch your hair carefully to achieve the desired results.
Reply:Usually with foil highlighting, you would use 40 volume developer with a high lift color(should give about 3 to 3.5 levels of lift or lightening) the highlift color should be ash based to neutralize any unwanted warm tones.
