I am a developer but I am sick of using windows, is a Mac good or linux?
I've been using windows all this time and well I want to try something new, I don't really do pc gaming and I am not really into developing media, I am mainly about the programming and that sort. Which OS would be best for this sort of thing PC, Mac or Linux?

I would go with a computer and Linux. The MAC is too expensive and too proprietary to be of much use in the real world.

You can install Linux using your current Windows machine hardware and try it out for free. There are a few live CD versions that let you run the OS from the CD. Your next question is which flavor of Linux to go with. That will be a hot topic of debate.
I've been using FreeBSD for years now as a second OS. It's not Linux but its more stable I think. Mac OS is based on FreeBSD.

It takes a while to adjust to a mac from a pc and vice versa, but patience is the key.

We have 1 acre land in ATL...want to build townhomes...have no $$$. How do we get a developer to build/invest?
We have an acre-plus property located in the heart of Atlanta, with a great view of the city. Atlanta's experiencing a serious real estate boom with many transplants relocating to the metro area (downtown, midtown, etc). The property is paid for -- and it's near the baseball stadium, the Zoo, downtown, etc. It would make for great townhomes. We simply don't have the capital to make it happen. Nor, do we simply want to sell it to an investor who'll turn around and make a milliond dollars or more -- while we walk away with barely a fraction of that. Real estate brokers tell us it's worth a lot but the offers are barely $200K. Is it possible to partner with a developer and split the profits? Will banks invest in that type of venture if you don't have the collateral to back it up? Does anyone have any experience or advice on how one could maximize a profit on such a hot property?

Don't sell it, you guys should take you time and do your homework and extensive research of the building industry.

If you can lease the property or leverage the property to finance your own rehabe venture, then you would be come that million dollar earning investor in your own interests.
Partnering is a matter of your negotiations; as yourself this - If I we to invest in something how and why would I want to split the profits?
Your "collateral" for lending would be the property itself if the value is there.
Realtors are ppl too and if a Realtor has the notion that its "worth alot" but can not or will not consider "putting it in writing" then the credibility of that "opinion" is merely just an opinion. Suffice it to say if a Professional is putting it in writing, there may be "consideration" neccessary for the constructive notice consideration.
My suggestion as a start are to:
1. Establish Market Valuation of your property in writing
2. Take that Market Valuation to a cooperative lender.
3. Seek the assistance of a cooperative Land Developer.
4. Establish all agreements in wrting with the assistance of your attorney.
The rest is business consideration. Accounting, etc.

no, 40 vol means it has a higher amount of peroxide in it, thus making your hair lighter. a 10 vol is for depositing color/darkening. the dye probably didn't work because your hair is damaged and can't grab color that well. try filling your hair with a protein filler/gloss, then dyeing your hair. that fills in the pourous hair, grabs the color, and holds the color longer.

Does anyone know how I can get in contact with a game developer on a serious, much wanted video game idea?
There is this great idea floating around for a very unique video game idea that would sell well, especially with college students. If necessary, I have nearly 500 people willing to sign a petition to see this game makes it to the development table.

Can an internet developer contract that if their servers are hacked they are not liable for data security?
Here's the language...."Vendor compiles information from visitors of Company’s websites and information provided by Company from its customers (collectively “User Information”). Just wondering if this was standard. I think they should be liable if they could have prevented.

it's boiler plate. Yes they can do that, they could put in that little green men run their systems. but if you lose data, it's not their fault. It basically does say they're not liable, but it's a chicken or the egg thing, that if they're supposed to do security, and they still get compromised then they're still liable because they wer supposed to do their job and do security. but they recognise that no security is 1005 and though they take precautions, they do disclose it's posibility and thus you're agreeing that they aren't liable. so yes they can say that, and if you sign it you agree as long as they take resonable precautions, that they aren't libale if the security get compromised...

We already have a well exprienced attorney. I am just looking for any additional information or advice from those who have gone through this before. This may be the first of many against this developer as there are other buildings with similar issues (in the same neighborhood). We have tried to settle on an amount for repairs but as you may have guessed the developer is playing hardball.

Im a 13 year old girl but the problem is im a really late developer. im shorter than all my friends even though im older than alot of them. I havn't started my periods yet and im not even getting period pains. My breasts are so small i have to wear a padded bra to kid myself they are bigger. is there something wrong with me?

are you really athletic or skinny? that can slow things down.
but just to make you feel better about yourself ask your mom to take you see a dr. for a physical.
being a small girl is much better than a big girl so don't worry about being too small. You will look years younger when you are over 50

As for your breasts,some girls develop later than others. I, personally, did not get my period until I was 16, my breasts did not fully develop until I was in my mid twenties. Most women wish that they had bigger breasts than what they were given, that is why breasts implants are such a lucrative business. What I'm saying is that you're not alone in wanting bigger breasts, a lot of women, no matter what age, are never satisified with their size. Be patient, you have lots of time to grow.

Then I missed being flat chested because wearing three sports bras in gym class is not fun. Plus they say its totally normal for a girl to not start menstruating until she's 16, so just be patient and feel like the luckiest girl in school to not have to deal with cramps just yet.

soo just give it time.

Hello everyone! I'm using php for over 2 years and I am thinking about improving my efficiency. I saw that there are lots of frameworks that promise they will help you with that(cake php, zope etc). What php framework do you use/used and really helped you in getting the things done faster and better? (please note that I would like something that can scale to big projects)

I've played with a bunch of PHP frameworks including cake and blue shoes. The only one that I've been happy with is Zend framework. It's made by the PHP people, it's all OO and it's done really really well. We use it at our company and it does some nifty things like handling SOAP and REST calls. It's lightweight and fast.
The downside is that it's in the early stages of development so you'll need to be flexible enough to upgrade frequently as new feature become available. I'm normally very anti-framework when it comes to big projects, and in PHP land, there's a lot of crap frameworks. But Zend FW cuts down development time, scales nicely and is easy to work with.

You use equal parts of dye and developer.
So, I think you said it was 2 oz of dye, so then use 2 oz of developer as well.

The easiest way to do it is, put the powder (usaully about 2 heaped scoops for medium hair) in a non metalic bowl and add enough developer to make it the consistensy of thin icing. It has to look like you could thinly spread it on a cake, but not too thick. No fussy measuring required but youll get the right amounts to dye your hair nicely!

I am planning to study web development basically ASP.Net/
javascript/photoshop and some flash. I am expecting to study for 6 months. After that can I expect to get a job in a company? Is the field saturated? Will my age be an issue. I know a little html already.

What kind of life experience you have may help. For example, if you were a plumber and you are going to develop a website for a plumbing supply house, that may be a benefit. But no one else would likely be seeking a plumber with 6 months of programming classes.
I'd say you need to delete experience from the equation by working with newer, cutting edge technologies that No One has much experience with. Take a look at Silverlight, which is Microsofts answer to flash and is only out in BETA until this fall. AJAX (asyncronous javascript and XML) is also drawing a lot of interest.

A lot of the larger companies will not even consider your app if you are not a college grad or have several years exp in design and development. Most of the ones I have seen want you to be highly skilled multiple programming languages as well as CSS, (x)HTML, JavaScipt. I am only a few years younger then you and believe the larger companies also have a cutoff age of around 45 even if they will not admit it. I have been trying since December of last year and have more qualifications then you mentioned. I came to the conclusion the only way to survive for me is to start my own business up and sell websites that way.

I'm decent, I have my own studio and this job requires some database coding (password protection/possible online store). I generally work for people I know well and hence it's tough for me to ask for money from them. If you don't know the going rate, roughly what would you pay for a job like this? (in US $)

It is important to understand how things work, to be good at what you are doing, and to be able to ask for a second opinion. Many developers are used to doing something the same way, so they don't spend time on improving their abilities and skills.
I think the most important thing is attention to details. If a developer does not understand the importance of "small things", the result could be disappointing.

However with programming the main traits are creativity and the ability to think out of the box, patience and a keen eye for spotting the small details.
It is also if you deal with programming to be able to break up tasks and to be able to see past the problems. It is rare that an application/site will run in a linear fashion and everything you want to do will be clear cut.

I don't think creativity is very important.
It is important to understand how things work, to be good at what you are doing, and to be able to ask for a second opinion. Many developers are used to doing something the same way, so they don't spend time on improving their abilities and skills.
I think the most important thing is attention to details. If a developer does not understand the importance of "small things", the result could be disappointing.

However with programming the main traits are creativity and the ability to think out of the box, patience and a keen eye for spotting the small details.
It is also if you deal with programming to be able to break up tasks and to be able to see past the problems. It is rare that an application/site will run in a linear fashion and everything you want to do will be clear cut.

I was told that it takes years to become a good C# programmer. But if I want to become an ASP%26gt;NET developer how much time should I expect to learn the technology until I can get ready and apply for an entry level position? I know that asp.net use C# but not intensively like a C# programmer.

How does citrix server works and what is the use of citrix developer network?
Pretty broad question. Basically citrix architecture uses a "front" end and "back end" server concept to deliver secure applications to remote (internet) users.
The "front end" server is usually a web server that sits outside a corporate firewall that you can browse to via port 443 (a secure https:// connection). This webserver then establishes a secured tunnel through its firewall using other (proprietary) ports to the application servers, sitting inside the corporate firewall, that the remote users want to access.

Developers/Designers that are interested in the job will provide concepts and sometimes nearly completed work. Ultimately, you can provide feedback to these participants as to what you are looking for in the design/functionality. And then you decide who wins the job and gets the money.

You can use something like CyberCoders but my experience has been that you get a lot of low-ball bids from overseas particularly India that don't deliver on their commitments which sets you back to square one and out some money. If you want to use someone from overseas, I would highly recommend verifying their references prior to any money transfer.

For you current application, you could insert a frame on the page and then insert the object in the frame. You also could insert blank spaces to the left of the object to force it to the middle. Also, you can use the edit menu tab and turn off justification. the default is everything is justified to the left margin.

I'm a Canadian who has lived in Manchester since 2001 and I finish a Ph.D this fall. I've been a software engineer for over a decade now and I've worked on a number of research software projects. I'm thinking of trying to go back to doing industry work. I'd like to move down to London and I'm just wondering what the market for contractor programming is like. I've been building Java applications since 1997 and I don't know how portable that is anymore. Which sectors of the software development market have promise? How do you find out whether a contracting outfit is dodgy or not? Does anyone have any advice in general on trying to find IT work in London? I got the impression that when the recession hit in 2001 the IT market slid. I'm not sure how accurate the claims are that more jobs are being outsourced abroad. Thoughts?

Houses were built on the site after Hooker chemical sold the property to the Niagara Falls Board of Education (NFBE).
Reply:In 1952, Hooker was approached by the School Board which wanted to buy a part of the Love Canal property (the Central Section where no dumping had occurred, as yet) in order to build a new grade school. At first Hooker declined, because it was concerned about liability for the wastes, but within a month it reconsidered and agreed to donate the property, for $1. The conditions on the donation were that the School Board take the entire property, indemnify Hooker for any claims, and continue to allow dumping until the school was built. Hooker advised the School Board that Love Canal was used "for plant refuse containing some chemicals," that the Central Section of the property was appropriate for a school, and that the rest of the property was appropriate for playgrounds. Don't try to set yourself up with a deadline to learn to program great in a year (Its not going to happen), it takes many years to become a great programmer. At the same time with a proper rails book you can build your first (yet small) application in as little as about 30 min. probably. Just have fun with it and you should be up and rolling in now time. The dogs have taken the bin down and there was an unopened bottle of hair color developer. They have bitten a hole in the top and there was some laying next to the bottle. We have an acre-plus property located in the heart of Atlanta, with a great view of the city. Atlanta's experiencing a serious real estate boom with many transplants relocating to the metro area (downtown, midtown, etc). We already have a well exprienced attorney. I am just looking for any additional information or advice from those who have gone through this before. This may be the first of many against this developer as there are other buildings with similar issues (in the same neighborhood). We have tried to settle on an amount for repairs but as you may have guessed the developer is playing hardball.

Im a late developer and im starting to get worried please help.?
Im a 13 year old girl but the problem is im a really late developer. im shorter than all my friends even though im older than alot of them. I havn't started my periods yet and im not even getting period pains. My breasts are so small i have to wear a padded bra to kid myself they are bigger. is there something wrong with me?

do you have northern earopean genes? I did nad started to develop about 14
are you really athletic or skinny? that can slow things down.
but just to make you feel better about yourself ask your mom to take you see a dr. for a physical.
being a small girl is much better than a big girl so don't worry about being too small. You will look years younger when you are over 50

Reply:It's perfectly normal... all those things will come with time. If you are honestly concerned you can always ask your doctor, but he/she will say the same thing.

Reply:There is nothing wrong with you. Be thankful that you haven't started your period yet, believe me, once you get it you'll wish for the days that you didn't have it. As for your breasts,some girls develop later than others. I, personally, did not get my period until I was 16, my breasts did not fully develop until I was in my mid twenties. Most women wish that they had bigger breasts than what they were given, that is why breasts implants are such a lucrative business. What I'm saying is that you're not alone in wanting bigger breasts, a lot of women, no matter what age, are never satisified with their size. Be patient, you have lots of time to grow.

Reply:No not at all, I was short with no chest until the summer I turned 15 and then all the sudden I caught up and passed everyone else. Then I missed being flat chested because wearing three sports bras in gym class is not fun. Plus they say its totally normal for a girl to not start menstruating until she's 16, so just be patient and feel like the luckiest girl in school to not have to deal with cramps just yet.

Reply:im not exactly sure about girls. but i was a late bloomer too, when i was 14 in 8th grade i was about 5'2, had a small dick lol still had my baby face and was pretty much the same looking as a 6th grader. but that summer a lot of stuff changed i grew to to 5'8, dick got way bigger. uhh now im a jr in hs, im about 5'11 and doing better than avg, physically stronger than most other guys and i look old enough to walk into a store and buy myself cigs or alcohol.
soo just give it time.
were not the same sexs but everything changes in time and if your really insecure about or have questions just talk with you doctor or call like a local hotline.

Should I use a volume 10 developer or a 20?
Currently I have a somewhat faded out black color hair, with 2 lighter chunks that are colored pink. I want ALL of my hair to be black again. I don't know which developer would be best. I'm using 1A Jetblack permanent color cream. Plz help.

Reply:yes use 20 youll be fine im going to be dyeing all jet balck extenstions and im going to be using a 40 deveoplper it's extenstions it's ok lol
Reply:i would go for 20 vol (6%) as this is a permanent strength and going darker. 10 vol 3% is only semi permanent results and on pink and generally could fade to quick - u may find this anyway but black once in is a hard one to shift until its grown or cut out.

i want to get a job as a writer in the film industry, but i'm not good in my english writing etc... i have great story ideas for film....but just don't have the means of using it. how would i be able to get my ideas out there and get a job in the film industry?

Knowing how to present them, how to build a storyline and characters will be as important. It may be that working in partnership with another writer would help - you could be the ideas person, they could be the writer?
