Can I make a living working as a freelance Web Developer?

I am 55 and I am currently learning html/css/javascript/php/asp.net. I want to become a freelancer web developer/Designer. Is it possible to make a living doing that home? If yes how do you market yourself? Local newspaper??

I don't have much debts so I only need $1200 per month to be happy. Thanks.

Best place to search for freelance work is http://www.craigslist.org/ and it requires NO financial commitment...

A good start would be to make a good portfolio cuz thats the first question all your clients will ask you... and once you have some client base after a few months you will start getting references if you keep your clients happy.

Good Luck
Reply:You can easily make a living out of it. But your quality of work needs to compliment the price you ask. There is enough freelance talent available out there so competition is tough.

There are many online websites which bring together freelance developers and source code buyers. Check out websites like: http://www.elance.com, http://www.scriptlance.com etc.

Cheers!
