What's the difference between a web developer and web designer?

What are the major differences, like a designer does dreamweaver, java, etc?

the developer makes the functionality,....the developer codes the order system when you click on the button to order stuff...





developers usually know asp, SQL, vbscript jscript, php, ect...
Reply:Web Designers are conceptual artists. They "design" the look and feel of a website. They even design the mapping and flow of the site. A Web Developer actually codes the site, like a programmer. Web Developer is also often used to describe Web Application Developers. These are applications (ie. ASP.NET web sites) run on the web.
Reply:I'm not quite sure of the difference. I am a graphic designer, however have done web design work before and when I say design I mean from the look to the colors, to making it live. Although I could have had someone else upload it / make it live I suppose, so I guess that would be a web developer? I believe I would def. need a web developer for more complex sites.
Reply:The developer makes sure the site works, and all features are not busted





the designer makes sure the site looks appealing, and fixes the interface if something goes wrong.
