If i was to make a website better then myspace, would it be better if i become a web designer or web developer
With the success of MySpace, it would be very hard to compete with it even if you were a Web Designer/Web Developer but with the right skills and the right attention to your MySpace alternative it is possible that it can be done, tho it would take awhile...but i could be wrong so I say TRY IT!

Reply:Having a website better than myspace would bring you enough profit to run it as a business. When you work as a web designer you will be working on many projects and your job will be much harder and you will need to keep finding business all the time to keep going.





Running a website better than myspace will be easier, but it could turn out to be routine. Working as a web designer or web developer could be more interesting.





It all depends on how you want to have it, easier for yourself (which there is nothing wrong with) or more interesting for yourself.





I just had a last thought, if you want to run a myspace type website you have to be good with dealing with people, you will be getting loads of e-mails from people who complain they can't do this or can't do that and you need to know how to solve problems well.
Reply:I don't know what the difference is but if you see the page and you know the details of what you want then it sounds like design. If you want the business part of it then developer sounds right.

A site such as MySpace wouldn't function to any reliable and responsive degree unless it had the proper design by software architects and engineers.





To be clear, a web designer deals with UI, graphics, layouts, essentially the presentation layer of a system. A web developer generally deals with the server side layer, specifically the underlying code the presentation layer relies on.





Make no mistake, it is much harder to make a bug free site operate properly and to spec than it is to make it look pretty.





That said, both groups work closely together to make sites. To make a site better than MySpace, you would have to be exceptional at both.





One could write a thesis on this topic...
