What is the different between programmer and developer?
In practice, nothing. They are basically synonyms.
What is the different between programmer and developer?
A programmer is essentially also a developer, because programmes normally have bugs that need fixing. First they write a programme, then they develop it, by adding features and fixing bugs.
Reply:the developer figures out what the procees is that has to be done, and the programmer writes the code that makes that process happen
Reply:a few $$
Reply:Not much.
A software developer typically encompasses the entire life cycle of a project; idea, desing, risk analysis, development, testing, release, and maintenance.
A programmer is a "subset" of developers that principally works on the development side, and not so much on the design.
Reply:Not much really. A lot of programmers (like myself) call themselves developers because it sounds less dorky. People will tell you a vast array of things in here, but it is the same thing.
Reply:a developer takes an idea and turns it into a 'psuedo language', a programmer takes thte 'psuedo language' amd turns it into a program.
Reply:In small Agile teams, the differences are merging with people describing themselves as Design/Programmers. Developers (designers) and programmers (coders) still exist in many environments especially those organizations with a functional design and hierarchical management and long build cycles.
It is tough to hang onto functional purity, and structured management in the Agile/Iterative development environment which often has ever changing requirements and short build cycles. Designer/programmers are more appropriate. They design the application, design the tests, write the code, create the build, fix the bugs, and start the process again. Often with the customers revising the specifications as the go based on the results of the last build. Seems slower and less efficient, but often is more effective in getting a good product in the hands of the end user.
Reply:a programmer writes progams, a developer may develop things ie graphics / layout around the program so when it all comes together, you have something to look at

I am was asked to apply a "permament" color to someones hair & but can't remember if I use developer????
Am I supposed to use a developer or Hydrogen proxide?
I am was asked to apply a "permament" color to someones hair %26amp; but can't remember if I use developer????
uhhh...yeah you use a developer. why on earth would you use hydrogen peroxide????????? i'm a hairstylist and i can't think of a single circumstance where straight hydrogen peroxide should be used. if you're a student or a stylist you may want to go over your books and refresh your knowledge.

Basic web design requires HTML knowledge. Once you pick up HTML, I recommend learning parts of javascript for fancy interactions etc, also try and learn CSS. Then slowly work your way up. Move onto php next.
I would recommend getting a program like "macromedia Dreamweaver / Adobe Dreamweaver"!!
there's plenty of websites with tutorials on for all kinds of webdesign code.

Should I quit my job as a software developer to take care of my 9 month old twin girls?
I am afraid I will be too far behind on technology to re-enter the workforce after taking a couple years off, but I hate dropping my girls off at daycare every day! I also make a pretty good living doing what I do, and I would have to rely on my husband's salary alone. I like having my own spending money. :)
Should I quit my job as a software developer to take care of my 9 month old twin girls?
its up to you, i see a lot of parents like you at my mothers daycare, one lady started crying because she didn't want to leave her baby daughter, it can be heartbreaking, i would stay home with them, but its up to you, and saying you like to have your own spending money.. if you are married shouldn't your money be together? you know whats mine is his and whats his is mine?
Reply:see what you can do from home. I insurance I can do what I do at my office at my home. your job was software you can do it from home. best of luck.
Reply:Only you can decide. If you were my daughter I would say YOU take care of the children you brought into the world. Life is not about money and technology, it's about doing the right thing. Like I say, only YOU can decide what the right thing is.
Reply:I can't think of anything more important in the world than my children.
Reply:Don't let strangers like us tell you what is right for you in terms of raising your children. There are pros and cons to being a stay-at-home mom and to being a working mother. Make the decision that is right for you, your husband, and your children.
If you decide to be a stay-at-home mom, have you considered talking with your boss about the possibility of working part-time from home? You could remain involved in the ever-changing technology AND be a full-time mother.
Reply:It depends. Are you happier at your job, or spending the day with the twins? Is the caretaker expensive- as in you make almost as much as you have to pay him/her? If it is thats something you need to consider. It's a personal decision. GoodLuck
Reply:I've never regretted it! I don't miss the money--we have more to spend now since I'm not commuting, I don't need work clothes, I'm not spending my own money on my job (I was a teacher), I cook more and eat out less, and I'm happier in general. I'm proud to cut back on spending all the time. I get excited when I buy something for a great price or I come up with new ways to save money. I love to come up with new ideas for saving money. Whatever you decide, there will be something for you to do when you're ready to work again. If you decide to stay home, be prepared to work hard! It's tough, dirty work and I love it! Good luck!
Someone suggested saving a nest egg for your children. My SIL has lots of money, she makes a lot and so does her husband. Guess who has more money in the savings account? Me, the SAHM. Her kids are terrors because they never get any attention between day care for 50 hours a week, grandma's house in the evening, and going home just to sleep. No one reads them stories, paints with them or makes cookies with them. kids can grow up and make their own money. Not all working parents neglect their kids, I know, but saving money for your children is not all there is. Kids need the attention of their parents. The more, the better.
Reply:When you're 80 years old, and looking back on your life, do you really think you will regret time spent with your children? You are the most important person in their lives, and the first years are so important. Too important to be left up to a minimum wage day-care worker who may not even like your kids, let alone love them like you do. I really don't see a choice here. Raise your children.
Reply:I would continue working so you have a good nest egg for your kids.
Reply:If I had twins I would definitely not work full time but I would work part time. If you can afford to then do it and just work part time.
Reply:Nobody can know the answer to that but you.
But there are options for you:
I am the mom of an 8-month-old boy and I work from home as a webmaster / internet application developer.
Now that he is getting more active, I decided to have someone come 3 days a week, for half a day.
Her pay is half my pay so it makes financial sense.
I am lucky my company is very flexible and I can do that.
I love taking care of him and those few hours with the nanny give me time to catch up and be really productive.
You can do it.
It feels great and they will only be babies once, so enjoy them.
Lots of luck
Reply:Yes, you will be far behind. I retired from Oracle and it was only about 18 months before I was considered ancient.
Talk with your employer and see if you can work at home for 3-4 days a week. As a developer, there is little need for you to be in the office and you can work more comfortably and be as or more productive at home. I did this quite a bit during my working years. Heck, they might even spring for DSL service so you can get faster access to the company site!
Reply:See if there are some things that your boss would allow you to do at home so that in this way there is more time spent with them and less time at the office. There can be a compromise with working from home and while the children are down for their nap. Working earlier before they get up and you can sell your boss on the fact that most virtual office workers produce more than being at and office. I think that compromising is better than not working at all - and you know that technology changes just about daily and being two years behind would be like starting over. Who doesn't like their own money to spend - shopping is a pleasure. SMILE

u like having your own spending money cause it's convenient for YOU, so u can buy the things U want.
how about putting your children's best interest first, like a mommie is supposed to do. how about learning how to budget so that only one of you (your wobby) has to work, and you stay home with your kids?
remember, they can replace u at work in about 2.4 days, but no one can replace u as the mom of your kids.
little story: one day a 7 y/o came home from school. he ran to his mommies arms who was waiting for him. the child ran to her busom and said "today we had a substitute teacher, AND a substitute bus driver. Mamma i'm glad there's no subsitute for you"

And i am sure that you could find a similar job that is part time if you cant go part time in your current job.

How much loreal developer 20 do i mix with the Loreal Preference color?
i have dark hair already, but i want a blue/black to kind of reflect off my hair. do you guys think it will show? my hair is black, shoulder length. i just recently purchaced Loreal preference ONYX SHEEN, how much of the Loreal Developer 20 do i mix in with it? how many once of each?
How much loreal developer 20 do i mix with the Loreal Preference color?
Hmmm. The directions should be on the box-even if it is a pro color. Most colors are equal parts color to peroxide. Ex 2oz of color to 2oz of peroxide, but some color lines mix a little different.
There should be info on the product somewhere. It's kinda important to mix it the way it tells you to or it may not work right. Is there a number you can call on the box?
You should be able to see the bluish tint in the light, but it may not be super noticable since your hair is already dark. Won't know til you try it. Good luck!

When / how do you tell your website developer the relationship is over?
I paid a significant sum to have a website developed. It contains a custom built application that is written in ruby on rails, and has other systems plugged in as well. The site is now live and works well most of the time, however I am now experiencing bugs and other issues that require immediate attention to remedy, as the site is in production and the issues are affecting users.
It seems that now that the site is live, my requests for support from the developers has been reduced dramatically. We had a big issue on Saturday that affects all the users, and I can't get a solid response time yet from them about when the issue will be fixed. They are paid (well) by the hour but I suspect other, perhaps more lucrative projects are taking their attn.
As it's such a custom job, I am worried that if I break away I will not be able to find a group to do the work well and understand what the original coders wrote. But my users (and my site's reputation) are suffering. What do I do?
When / how do you tell your website developer the relationship is over?
You find someone who is willing to do the work. It would probably behoove you to find a young, up and coming website developer to do it. He would be eager and more than willing to get it done and make a good impression. Sometimes it's more difficult to get the seasoned veterans to do stuff when they have much more on their plate.
Regards,
Brandon
Reply:well you could search the net for ruby and rails forums its just coding and probably have a code that needs edited. more like they have new jobs and they don't want to go back and edit yours because building a new site is more money.
i would just tell them it would be nice if they looked at the site withing the next 72 hours with a report of what they think is wrong. if they fail to do so and you paid them for support along with building the site. i would file for a return of partial monies for non rendering of services. this is done through the credit card or payal you used.
Reply:I am a web developer. Any web developers worth their salt should be willing, AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE!!! to give you a CD of your website files. But, frankly, that doesn't matter: you SHOULD have access to your website files, yourself!!! by virtue of the fact that you have the FTP userid and password to your host! Immediately, and at once, toot sweet, go make a backup of all your files!
Then go change the FTP password to something yer web developer doesn't know.
Then notify yer web developer(s) of termination of contract.
All this within a relatively short period of time. It is a service, after all. You're paying for it. You deserve satisfaction for your money.
(If the web developer, on the other hand, had gotten fed up with your constant persnicketiness, the web developer could have done the same, so it's a two-way street!)
A contract is just that. Say bye!
Reply:There are so many developers out there, you do not need to deal with people like that. As you said, your reputation is on the line. One piece of advice is to tell them that it would be a shame if they could not use you for a reference because they are slipping at this late hour.
You should review the terms of your contract so you know exactly what the specific deliverables are and to find out what the ownership, intellectual property and confidentiality rights are for this project. The contract should also have response times for bug-fixes.
If they are not spelled out, you're situation is precarious. Make sure you get a contract like that on your next project.
If you don't already have it, I would tell them that you need all source code and images (in their original format) and a complete description of the development environment used along with any third-party tools or libraries used.
Meanwhile, try to find someone who can take over for you. Go to monster.com and specify web and ruby on rails and you should find plenty of folks.
Then cut them loose and notify the BBB.

Who enforcesd deed restrictions after developer leaves and there is not a Home owners association.?
What if I want to put in a irrigation well, can i get a certain percentage of my neigbiors in the subdivision to sign off on it and be OK (not be suceptable to legal recourse)?
Who enforcesd deed restrictions after developer leaves and there is not a Home owners association.?
No. The restriction is for perpetuity. If you violate the restriction, any neighbor can utilize a civil action to enforce the restriction and will prevail on a prima facie basis if they provide evidence that you have violated the restriction.

What is the average pay for a senior web developer ?
depens on the developer and how good hes at selling his product (or himself)
can range from $500 to $100,000 per month or even more
all depends on the developer
it can also be 0, if he does nothing
usual pay is about $2000/month where i live
What is the average pay for a senior web developer ?
go to www.salary.com
input your location, select the job title, set the experience and it will spit out a fairly accurate number.
Reply:I am a senior web developer with 5+ years of experience and a 2 year degree with proven client relation experience.
All of the above qualifications helped me to demand a salary of 2k per month with quarterly bonus and health benefits.
Keep in mind that employers also push benefits as a way not to pay as much as others who do not offer benefits. Depending on where you live and the size of the company determines what pay range you could ask.
Hope this helps

Can a developer next door to my property find a legal reason to make me change the grading on my property?
I live in Canada and a land developer wants to build several condos next door to my property.
His plans are to build at the same height as my house by removing the hill on my property.
The hill is covered with flowers and flowering bushes with man made streams, water falls and ponds all linked together the hill from 15 to 25 feet wide, 6 to 8ft high and 100 foot long.
The hill slopes to his property height with the property line at the top of the hill. He told the neighbors the hill is going to be removed so he can build at the same height as my house, can the city allow him to remove it?
If he puts in a retaining wall on his side the water table on his property would lower affecting the plants on the hill and my water bills would go up.
The hill has been there over 50 years, and I spent the last 8 years getting it to the way I'm happy with.
Can a developer next door to my property find a legal reason to make me change the grading on my property?
The developer cannot do anything on your property. You have title to the property and therefore he cannot dig, grade, or set foot on your property. Contact your township or municipal government. Canada has subdivision and zoning laws. A developer must submit development plans to the local government that show a grading and drainage plan which should include the following: proposed contours of the land (how the land will be excavated for his condos), a proposed storm drainage system where all the runoff from his property is going to go, proposed water and sanitary sewer connections for the buildings, the locations of the proposed condos, proposed road ways or access to the condo, etc. Ask to see these plans and make sure your questions concerning your property are addressed. If not, hire an attorney file the proper paper work to stop construction until they are addressed.
Reply:This may not be the answer you want to hear, but fact is stranger than truth. Since most of it is his property. He can do what he wants to it as long as he is within local ordinances without your approval. As long as his condos don't block your view. Its his choice to do with the property what he wants as long as he meets zoning regulations. These are available at your local courthouse.
Reply:I'm not familiar with the laws in Canada, but I've seen situations in the US where the developer was allowed to do whatever he wanted on his side of a hill, including installing a retaining wall. If if such a wall had adverse impact on the property next door, there was no barrier. However, the rules are changing and you may find that you have success fighting this plan. Recently, storm water drainage has become a really big deal in many urban/suburban areas, and this issue has been successfully used as a deterrent to the type of landform change you're worried about. I would contact every agency with jurisdiction in my area to determine what hurdles he will need to jump to get permits to do what he wants. You can make your opinion known, and also attend every hearing, which is a frustrating process, but probably the only way to achieve your objective.

How to transition from a "Web Designer" to a " Web Developer"?
Hello, I am having hard time finding employment as web designer/ and would like to know the best way to get into more of a web developer role?. I hear these things all the time, job-hopper(a lot of past jobs are contract, its not my fault they only want you for a 3 month contract, am I supposed to go work at the gym), so I really want to stay in the internet field, and I already can code XHTML/CSS. and some basic server-side stuff with .net and cfml and basic sql, so why not , (Every job I have seen now requires a CScience degree from university(their is no more easy way in to web dev, its cs or cis degree and every, i mean every job requires some sort of skills with .net, in my opinion, has become a standard over the past 2 years or so), but could any IT/computer related degree get you in,?And how can you have 5yrs experience when most jobs are contract, some want a designer, a developer, or both? Hard to know what to go to school for, when job requires differ. skill sets
Any thoughts?
How to transition from a "Web Designer" to a " Web Developer"?
there are companies out there who are willing to train people. if you are up to it then you can apply there. altough usually a trainee gets lower than someone who already has experience. you actually have an advantage because developers are sometimes asked to modify the pages they have. so you will have an easier time with that. however, a developer has lots more tasks such as programming depending on the requirements given and even producing documents and diagrams. designers focus more on the website design and apperance and that's about it while developers enhance these designs and add some functionality to them. they take care of data flow and storage also
Reply:I guess A developer develops more complex stuff like PHP or Java driven sites and actually writes specialized scripts for large companies, whilst a designer just creates web pages from his/her own creative ideas and pre-designed scripts. It's a close call. I agree that University degrees sound a bit off putting, but it's done in a effort to keep standards high. Ten year old kids can design web pages very well, but a lot don't understand many technicalities associated with good web design. In the same way most kids can draw, and draw well, one has to get a college or university degree to be an architect or graphic artist.
If you can't get back to college to get the necessary degrees or diplomas, you will have to prove yourself as a good web designer. Just remember that most of our best artists never went to art school! Design web pages, be proud of them and add you name as web designer and include a contact email address. Sooner or later someone may contact you. Another way is to advertise on shopping mall notice boards or do pamphlet drops in commercial areas. I can offer you a free site with all the space you will need at http://www.at3host.com Just sign up and begin creating great sites.

When hiring a freelance web developer, what skills (languages) are most important?
The developer would need to build a functioning prototype of an enterprise system to specifications from scratch for the purpose of a patent application. At this stage visuals not important. Somewhat similar in complexity and tasks to ebay (i.e. registering users, user developed listings, structured user interactions, financial calculations). Assuming such a system could be built in various languages, when writing a job description, should I specify what skills I am looking for and, if so, what would they be?
When hiring a freelance web developer, what skills (languages) are most important?
It sounds like you can see the end game in mind, but you're not sure what it's going to take to get it there. You'll need to get with these programming experts and let them tell you what you'll need. Obviously, the site will need to collect private information ( a secure website will be needed ), it will have to be linked to databases, and some type of mathematical programs will have to be used (like Excel or the likes). Plus other unforseen problems of needs that may arise. Programs like VB 6.0 can handle these types of applications with ease and a somewhat a pleasant GUI, while C++ can also handle this with better logistics and faster calculations, but is harder to build and not so pretty. Perl is also another language that one could use to create executables to handle these types of things.
Bottom line is, it could be done with many different things (Languages) or a combination utilizing more than one. Simple HTML is not going to cover what you need and won't secure the site either. (Your site will have to be secure, starting with an 'https://" prefix to ensure data privacy.
Don't cut corners on this type of project, you'll need an expert or you could create a real mess that you'll be responsible for.
Goodluck !
Reply:You can find hundreds of freelance programmers at websites like http://getafreelnacer.com/, you can check the coders previous works and feedbacks.

Entry level resume for software developer?
I want to apply myself as an entry level software developer. I have done MCA and have had 5 yrs teaching exp.(Comp Sc) but no software industry experience. How should I write a resume ... what should I put into it.. as one hardly gets a call for interview without having proper softwrae industry exprience.
Entry level resume for software developer?
In addition to listing the software environments that you have either educational grades in or certification in, also include what tools you know to do the development in those languages ... like the editors you know, the support tools.
Any application areas your teaching focused on.

How much does a Database Consultant/Developer charge?
We need to know how much a database consultant would charge to design and develop a database for our class project. It is a relatively simple task, but we are clueless as to the cost.
Please be honest, money is not a concern, though knowing the amount is. Also, include sources if available!
Thank you!
How much does a Database Consultant/Developer charge?
You should contact these guys at EZLAVA. They have programmers that can do custom stuff, but it sounds like you can do it yourself with thier database builder. Give them a call about your project and be specific. They'll be able to give you an answer right away. You'll probably be able to do it yourself and save a ton of money using their site builder.
Reply:it all depends on the scope of the project and the size and what type of database you are wokring with..
I usually charge about 30 an hour for a small to mid size Ms Access database
for something like a mysql I usually charge a little just because of the use of mysql so more like a hour but I know people that charge like 135 a hour for a damm foxpro 6 DB thats crazy so just look into what type of DB and the scope of it good luck
Reply:You'll get many different values, but my coding work is $55 and up per hour.
My DBA work is $30/hour for logical modeling.
$65 for install/maintenance/tuning, depending on the platform.

What is a building developer and would e have any input in the selection of the contractor?
I looked it up on Wikipedia, and there is some useful info there. I provided the link for you. -L
What is a building developer and would e have any input in the selection of the contractor?
The building developer is generally the person or corporation that owns a piece of property %26amp; is "building out" the parcel of land w homes, shopping , etc to cash in on the investment they made some years back when they purchased the raw, undeveloped real estate.
In some cases the developer may actually be a contracting firm as well, %26amp;/or may choose whatever contractors they desire to be involved w actually constructing buildings %26amp; streets.

Can anyone share their experiences being a contract software developer working in London?
I'm a Canadian who has lived in Manchester since 2001 and I finish a Ph.D this fall. I've been a software engineer for over a decade now and I've worked on a number of research software projects. I'm thinking of trying to go back to doing industry work. I'd like to move down to London and I'm just wondering what the market for contractor programming is like. I've been building Java applications since 1997 and I don't know how portable that is anymore. Which sectors of the software development market have promise? How do you find out whether a contracting outfit is dodgy or not? Does anyone have any advice in general on trying to find IT work in London? I got the impression that when the recession hit in 2001 the IT market slid. I'm not sure how accurate the claims are that more jobs are being outsourced abroad. Thoughts?
Can anyone share their experiences being a contract software developer working in London?
Although not as good as pre-2000 the contract market has picked up alot and there are plenty contract Java development positions available in London, as long as you have some good recent experience and a desirable skill set.
Best place to look for contracts is www.jobserve.co.uk. Have a search on there, you can gauge what skills are in demand and what the going rates are. Be warned that a lot of jobs posted on there are not real jobs, just CV grabbers from agencies.
As for dealing with agents - don't trust any of them! Have a look at http://www.itcontractor.com/Articles_IR3...
for some common agency tricks to avoid.
Good luck!

Who was the developer of the area called the "Love Canal" in Niagara Falls, NY?
I know Love bought the land to turn it into a canal and then the Hooker Chemical company purchased it from him and then they sold it, but who did they sell it to that built the community?
Who was the developer of the area called the "Love Canal" in Niagara Falls, NY?
In 1952, Hooker was approached by the School Board which wanted to buy a part of the Love Canal property (the Central Section where no dumping had occurred, as yet) in order to build a new grade school. At first Hooker declined, because it was concerned about liability for the wastes, but within a month it reconsidered and agreed to donate the property, for $1. The conditions on the donation were that the School Board take the entire property, indemnify Hooker for any claims, and continue to allow dumping until the school was built. Hooker advised the School Board that Love Canal was used "for plant refuse containing some chemicals," that the Central Section of the property was appropriate for a school, and that the rest of the property was appropriate for playgrounds. Actually, Hooker knew that approximately 22,000 tons of toxic chemical wastes were dumped at Love Canal. Hooker never warned the School Board of the dangers from subsidence of the ground.
Reply:Houses were built on the site after Hooker chemical sold the property to the Niagara Falls Board of Education (NFBE).

Im in high school still should i work at ign or gamespot or be a game developer?
i dunno which job i should take if i graduated from college should i work at ign or gamespot and be a game developer and work at EA sports or SCEA san diego. which gets better pay
Im in high school still should i work at ign or gamespot or be a game developer?
Here is what i would say, work at gamestop when your attending college seeing how college tends to only take up 2-5 hours a day and if you get a chance to develop you will have experience from your past career to help you make games.
Reply:"It’s about $70,000 per year."
You're pretty set after a long career in it anyway you go.
Reply:become a game devolper if you have skills or you can work at ign there's alot of money in that too but thats just what i say and if ;you become a game devolper ill buy your first game

What do real estate assessment consultants do? I mean if you are a developer why don't you preform the market
research yourself? hire the contractors? architects? and tracking down the attractive real estate invesment properties yourself. At that point, if they do all this why don't I just take out a loan and hire this company to do all the work themselves?
What do real estate assessment consultants do? I mean if you are a developer why don't you preform the market
I'm not sure where you are from, but here in Illinois a Real Estate "ASSESSMENT" consultant, is not a developer.
They actually research and try to REDUCE your Assessment on your property real estate which in turn would reduce your property real estate taxes.
I guess this term means something different in each state, but a consultant is someone who is not an attorney, trying to reduce your real estate taxes for a fee.

What should I do if I want to become a video game developer?
goto a school that offers game design. They are usually offered at 2 year trade schools. If you really want to go extreme try like School of visual art in NY or Orange county art institute if you want a 4 year degree.
How do I become a game developer?
What degrees do i have to get and whatnot.........
How do I become a game developer?
Your best shot is to get a degree in Computer Science, and learn various forms of programming. The better college you go to, the better contacts you'll have. You can get an MIT quality education for free (MIT actually posts amazing levels of coursework and lectures for free on their website), if you work hard enough. College gives you the degree to prove it, and the contacts to get in places where you normally couldn't before.
You need to learn programming and preferrably a lot of 3d graphics development. Becoming a game developer is very hard work, and you're likely to spend a lot of time on difficult jobs for low pay. However, if you're dedicated to it and love the idea of creating video games, you could really enjoy this job.
Still, if you're not in college yet, I suggest you get a book on learning how to code in C/C++, and practice there. It's a lot of work, so if you can't motivate yourself to learn how to code simpler 200 line projects in C/C++, you might have trouble becoming a game developer.
Reply:Depends where u live. Lot of colleges and univeristys have specifc game development programs. and if u live in toronto theres a great Video Game Develpment college here

Does web designing help me in my quest to become a video game developer?
i want to know if this class will help me in my quest to become a video game developer
Does web designing help me in my quest to become a video game developer?
Only if you learn scripting languages, just learning CSS and HTML will do little to help you.
If they have you learn JavaScript, JAVA, PHP, ASP, Perl or other scripting languages, then yes.
This is because scripting languages are programming languages and learning them carries over into learning other programming languages.
You'll want to learn C++, OpenGL and focus hard on design patterns. Google GOF design patterns.
Video game developing involves a lot of things. It's very departmental. Some people work on specific components, other graphics, others handling the user input/output.
Reply:It depends. I am going to assume that you want to end up as a video game programmer? Anyway, if your class does web designing using html then yes it is a great help. If they are using software with no coding then not really.
Reply:Sort of, but no. If you want to design games go to yoyo games website and download game maker. The trial can make full games with some limitations or upgrade cheap!
http://www.yoyogames.com/make
Reply:iN organizing things and making stuff yes it might but you need to know way more things that kinda of hard to explain
Reply:Yes. Learn XML. Some engines are starting to use it for their GUI.
Additionally, you'll want to put your portfolio online.
Reply:Well, if there is any other class that seems better to be a video game developer, then I would take it. It would definitely help with somethings, like you would get to know more about different programs required to do your field of work. You could get to know computers more.. which doesn't hurt.
Reply:I have a friend who currently has a degree in Web Design. He is pursuing a degree in Game Design. I know that Game Design and Game Developer aren't the same degree, but there are a lot of similiarities.
Web Designing may not help you to become a Game Developer, but it will definitely help you to become a 'successful' Game Developer. See the difference?

Trying to find a good UK games developer?
Why is it so hard to find a developer that employees people on the quality of their artwork, and not on the fact that you know someone who works there. It would be nice to work for a company that treats their employees well and promotes staff for their knowledge, not because they're a yes-man. Oh, long term security would advantagous, the shortest job i had was 3 weeks before the company closed. The joys of being an environment/3D artist!!

What happens if i leave paper developer out for too long?
i am using a pin hole camera and i was wondering if this would affect my pictures in any way. also how long is too long for developer to be out in a container
What happens if i leave paper developer out for too long?
The developer will oxidize and turn brown if left out for too long. I used to mix my chemicals so after one session I tossed the developer down the drain. Some photographers mix their paper developer at different ratios so the oxidation will occurs at different rates. The developer is a relatively inexpensive chemical so I would mix it 1:1 or 2:1 for a session. (It would also depend on hold many prints you run through the chemistry....more prints the quicker it will go bad.) If you want to "save" the developer you could place a layer of plastic wrap over the tray to limit the amount of air to the developer....it will help for a bit but don't expect anything over 24 hours.
Hope this helps.
Reply:it's good until it turns brown but always keep it in a container as much as possible and in a cool place. a good way to check to see if it is good is do a test print and develop it. if it dries and there are chemical stains, its no good.

the free games is a goody but on the serious part they are well paid, but as there are very few major players u would be looking into a very narrow field.

At 54 Am I tool old to become a web developer?
I am trying to become a web developer. I was told to give up on Flash %26amp; flex 2 and instead learning linux , msql , apache php etc... Now I was wondering if my age could be an issue? I wish to learn this in a bout 1 year then apply for a job?
At 54 Am I tool old to become a web developer?
education is not about how old you are..... but getting a job usually does.... but if you have a potiential and the right attitude that stands out among the rest... some companies will hire you....
Reply:If you are ready to crawl into the box and be lowered into the hole, I guess you are too old. It is up to you.
Reply:You're not too old! I know people that have learned web developing in their 60's. It's a challenge for anyone at any age. If you apply yourself you can do anything!
Reply:I BELIEVE YOUR NEVER TOO OLD TOO ACHEIVE YOUR DREAMS-OR WHAT YOU WANT TOO DO AND YOU HAVE DETERMINATION DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT OTHER PEOPLE TELL YOU LISTEN TO YOUR HEART I HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU
Reply:In the list I think you mean mysql. There is no age problem with this, but it will take quite a while to learn enough of all these to be useful.
Reply:go for it mate! Some employers might be fussy, but that shouldn't stop you from doing the job if you are good at it.
Reply:At 54 you would be to thorough. You would get stressed out trying to get the web to work properly. Young bucks wouldnt worry if their stuff only half worked as they dont care.
You be better learning how to fix their stuff ups hehe
Reply:If you feel too old then your are too old. You are as old as you feel.
Reply:This boils down to YOU.
You are never to old to learn.
I am 60 and have developed several web sites and work as an independent . If you are planning on using it as a job change this will be up to you.
You know how good or bad you are at it.
Bare in mind as was already mentioned there are several young ones out there and as was mentioned as well most aren't that hot. You can learn anything and everything you need, from the library, or Google Step by Step.
This field is overwhelmed with folks.
Also remember in this day and age there are certifications for all of the lanquages and tech spec's. In other words these companies want to hire people that have already been certified, so they don't have to pay for the school.
If you want to do it and your good at it the only thing stopping you is YOU. Don't let someone else make your decision.

you are options are good...just go ahead with it
Getting certified in Oracle will be an added advantage. for certification resources, tutorials and sample questions , try here
Reply:Not to speak of becoming an OCA, even if you give a through study on the study materials (hopefully from Oracle University) of the said exams, your knowledge on Oracle Application development will be dramatically increased.
for PL/ SQL part you may line to download the e book "PL/SQL User's Guide and Reference" from the following link

To become a curriculum developer or reviewer for early childhood education do need teaching experience?
Not necessarily I studied at Sunderland Uni for a BA hons in Early Childhood Studies and that would probably be better for a position looking at early years education as it specialises on education up to 12 years and also covers up to 16 not as thoroughly. If your already trained then i guess that relevent experience would also suffice. From my experience these days QTS (being a qualified teacher) is not necessary for many of the educational positions anymore and in fact many teachers are unqualified teachers. So long as you can prove the position. There are rare cases when a facility would need a person to have a QTS on their staff (such as a childrens centre may need a teacher who is qualified on their staff to get certain perks like more budget) but it is usually negotiable for equivillant qualification or experience.
Hope that helps

I use Redken Color Fusion 6RV. What would be the best developer to use?
I have been using Ion brand volume 20 for sensitive scalps. My color really seems to fade fast, I know reds do but it seems excessive. Would a Redken developer hold the color better or does it matter? Thanks,
